Lunar Calendar

The full Moon was, and is, an event of some importance in many cultures around the world, so much so that the full Moon for each month has been given special names by many of those cultures. The paintings below represent a calendar year with each painting representing the full Moon for that month. Many are taken from Native American traditions, but also Chinese, Hindu, Pagan, Colonial American, and Irish traditions make appearances. All of the paintings are from 2011 and are 8" x 8" acrylic on hardboard.
